Letter to the Flautist

To You

 Kamalanayana Krishna,

Let me get this straight…

Don’t know how much I can wait…

You never loved me! Right?

I was a moron, adoring you day ‘n night!

Vrindavan was just a play grove—better here than anywhere!

I just happened to be there, a village maiden— naive ‘n fair

You bewitched me by spinning ethereal strains from your flute,

Wrapped those shimmery threads around me, ripping me out of my roots,

Enchanter! You knocked down the walls of my heart, opened all doors,

Tricking me into your web, never yearning for my love like I did for yours!

Like all those rapt cowherd girls, I was just a puppet to your whims.

You wove fickle love songs, yet I, a fool, revered them as sacred hymns.
